“A private executive risk leadership forum that helps senior leaders explore how to see further, respond faster and provide boards with clearer confidence in an uncertain risk landscape.”

A Welcome from Your Host

Welcome to Beyond the Horizon

Risk leadership has never mattered more, and it has never been harder to communicate that to the people who need to hear it most. The pace of change, the weight of regulation, and the rise of AI are reshaping what it means to govern, anticipate and respond. Yet too many risk functions are still fighting for the visibility and the resources they deserve.

That is why we created this evening. Not a conference. Not a product pitch. A private gathering of senior risk and governance leaders, aboard one of the most compelling venues in London, to think together about what commanding risk in this environment actually looks like.

I look forward to welcoming you aboard HMS Belfast and to a genuinely memorable evening of conversation, challenge and connection.

The Setting

A venue that proves the point

HMS Belfast is not simply an interesting backdrop. The ship embodies vigilance, preparedness, coordination, resilience and command decisions under pressure to the very challenges facing today’s risk leaders. Moored on the Thames with panoramic views of Tower Bridge and the City skyline, it creates a setting no hotel ballroom can replicate.

Command & Control

A working warship that survived the Arctic Convoys, Battle of North Cape, D-Day and Korea. A tangible reminder of what real command under pressure looks like.

Quarter Deck Reception

Panoramic views over Tower Bridge and the Tower of London. A unique outdoor deck space with capacity for up to 200 guests for a private reception.

Peer-Led, Not Product-Led

This is not a product seminar. It is an invitation to a high-quality peer conversation about risk visibility, resilience and board confidence.

Who Should Attend

Built for senior risk leaders

This evening is curated for decision-makers who own risk, resilience and governance at the highest level. Places are limited and allocated by invitation.

Chief Risk Officers

CROs and Deputy CROs navigating enterprise-wide risk visibility and board reporting in increasingly complex regulatory environments.

Heads of Risk & Resilience

Operational resilience, business continuity and risk framework leads who must demonstrate preparedness to regulators and boards alike.

Audit & Compliance Leaders

Internal audit directors and compliance heads accountable for controls assurance, regulatory reporting and governance oversight.

Governance & GRC Leads

Those responsible for connecting risk appetite, controls evidence and management information into coherent board-level narratives.

Third Party & Supply Chain Risk

Leaders accountable for supplier risk, concentration dependencies and operational resilience across extended enterprise boundaries.

C-Suite & Executive Sponsors

CEOs, COOs and CFOs who carry board-level accountability for risk culture, strategic risk decisions and regulatory confidence.

The Evening

An agenda built for real conversation

Every element of the evening is designed to create genuine peer dialogue. From the Quarter Deck reception through to drinks, canapés and a keynote that challenges the room — this is not a conference to sit through. It is a conversation to be part of.

18:30 to 19:00

Arrival & Quarter Deck Reception

Drinks on deck with panoramic views over Tower Bridge and the Thames. CRISAM hosts introduce priority guests and set the tone for the evening ahead.

19:00 to 19:25

Keynote: Real Risk Management & in Naval Operations

Stefan Gershater, former Royal Navy and a career risk leader, on what risk management looks like when the consequences are immediate and nobody has time for a heat map. What the boardroom can borrow from the bridge.

19:25 to 19:45

Keynote: Risk & AI Beyond the Horizon

Michael Rasmussen, “The Father of GRC”, explores what AI means for the future of risk leadership and what it demands of risk leaders today. A challenge to the room, not a briefing.

19:45 to 20:15

Drinks & Canapés

Drinks and canapés aboard, with structured table conversations facilitated by CRISAM hosts. Each table explores a risk leadership theme: visibility, board confidence, resilience, and third-party risk.

20:15 to 20:25

Risk Battleships: Sink the Silos

An interactive risk challenge: Port Command vs Starboard Command. Two teams compete on risk knowledge across early-warning signals, board reporting, cyber crisis and operational resilience. Competitive, memorable, and deliberately provocative.

20:25 to 20:30

Close & Evening Ends

CRISAM hosts close conversations with priority guests. Evening concludes at 20:30.

Interactive Element

Risk Battleships: Sink the Silos

After the keynote, the room splits into Port Command and Starboard Command. Each team answers risk leadership questions. A correct answer earns a shot at the opposing fleet on a classic Battleships grid.

It is competitive, fast-paced and deliberately structured to surface the gaps and disagreements that matter most in risk leadership.

PORT COMMAND vs STARBOARD COMMAND

Former Royal Navy  ·  Enterprise Risk Leader

“Real Risk Management in Naval Operations”

Stefan Gershater has run risk where the consequences are immediate. A former member of the British Royal Navy, he has spent his corporate career leading risk functions inside some of the UK’s most recognisable organisations, arguing persuasively that risk earns its seat at the table by enabling decisions rather than preventing them. He joins us to show what the boardroom can borrow from the bridge: how risk is actually managed when the sea state is rising, the information is incomplete, and somebody still has to make the call.
