Governance for risk management as part of the Corporate Centre at BASF has been further developed in recent years from a more report-oriented approach to support for the business units to enable integrated risk and performance management. The necessity arose on the one hand from the high level of uncertainty caused by the crises of recent years and from the increased regulatory requirements for risk management, e.g. the new auditing standard of the auditors. The further development included, for example, the establishment of a risk committee, community work to promote the risk culture, intensification of monitoring activities with regard to risk management activities in the business units as well as the expansion of reporting and the introduction of new risk management software.
